Reporting to the Drafting Coordinator, the Senior Estimator & Design Technologist is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and developing detailed drawings to support fabrication and project execution. This role ensures projects are properly scoped, costed, and aligned with operational capabilities while supporting production through precise drafting and coordination.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, and overhead
· Collaborate with project managers, fabrication, and operations teams to review engineered drawings, blueprints, and project documentation to understand scope, requirements, and specifications
· Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing
· Maintain and update estimating databases and cost models
· Develop layouts, assemblies, and welding drawings, and produce engineering drawings and specifications using SolidWorks 3D CAD software
· Utilize 3D scanning technology (Faro or similar) and conduct field work to gather project information, including on-site scanning to support accurate modelling and quoting
· Perform other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Industrial technology
· 5+ years of experience in estimating and/or drafting within an industrial or fabrication environment
· Ability to work independently and part of a team
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Attention to detail is essential
· Must be flexible to work on various projects and tasks
· Valid driver’s license
Technical Skills:
· Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D CAD software)
· Experience with 3D scanning technology (Faro or similar) is an asset
· Experience with estimating software or ERP systems (e.g., E2 or similar) is an asset
· Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
· Knowledge of steel fabrication processes
· Experience with CNC/plasma cutting systems (e.g., Hypertherm ProNest) is an asset
· Strong computer skills and report writing abilities
· Excellent analytical and mathematical skills

Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
