My client, a well‑established boutique litigation practice, is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Law Clerk to join their team. This firm is known for handling a diverse range of civil disputes, including complex commercial matters, real property litigation, and mortgage enforcement files. They operate in a fast‑paced environment where precision, organization, and strong advocacy support are essential.
The ideal candidate brings a minimum of five years of hands‑on civil litigation experience in Ontario, with advanced legal drafting abilities and a solid command of the Rules of Civil Procedure. Familiarity with modern court technology—including CaseLines and the Justice Services Online (JSO) portal—is critical, as the role involves managing both traditional and fully digital litigation workflows.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee and organize complex litigation files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and strict adherence to deadlines.
- Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motion materials, affidavits, correspondence, and other legal documents with clarity and precision.
- Manage electronic filings through the JSO portal and prepare, upload, and maintain digital hearing materials in CaseLines.
- Coordinate and prepare discovery materials, including drafting requests, compiling productions, and supporting document review processes.
- Provide administrative and file‑management support, including opening new matters, scanning, photocopying, and maintaining organized digital and physical records.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience in Canada as a civil litigation law clerk or paralegal.
- Demonstrated expertise in legal drafting, document review, and case analysis.
- Strong understanding of Ontario litigation procedures, court rules, and document management systems.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Experience in mortgage enforcement considered a strong asset.
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
