Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical evaluations.
- Implement therapy techniques aimed at improving speech clarity, language comprehension, voice disorders, and swallowing function.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy strategies accordingly to maximize outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and case managers to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Educate patients and their families about communication strategies and exercises to support ongoing improvement.
- Stay current with advances in speech-language pathology through continuing education and professional development activities.
Skills
- Proven experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist in hospital or acute care settings is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to healthcare environments.
- Experience with case management and coordinating care across multidisciplinary teams.
- Pediatric experience is preferred for working with children with speech or language delays or disorders.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to individual needs.
- Ability to assess complex cases accurately and develop effective treatment plans.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and educating patients’ families.

Requirements for SLP:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
- RASP registration is an asset
