Position Summary
The Carpenter supports civil infrastructure projects through formwork, framing, concrete preparation, and general carpentry activities. This role supports the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities, camp buildings, and miscellaneous concrete structures.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Carpenter works with concrete crews, operators, and other trades to complete work safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Carpentry & Construction
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Construct, install, and strip concrete formwork for foundations, slabs, walls, pedestals, and equipment bases
- Perform framing and general carpentry associated with:
- Water and wastewater treatment plant buildings
- Camp and support facilities
- Miscellaneous concrete and structural works
Tools, Equipment & Layout
- Safely operate hand tools and power tools required for carpentry and formwork
- Assist with layout, measurements, elevations, and alignment using levels and lasers
- Ensure tools, materials, and work areas are maintained in a safe and organized condition
Coordination & Quality
- Coordinate work with site supervision and other trades to maintain schedules
- Track daily progress and material usage
- Ensure completed work meets drawings, specifications, and applicable codes
Safety & Site Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies and provincial regulations
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and hazard assessments
- Maintain a strong focus on personal, crew, and site safety
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Completion of an accredited carpentry program or recognized trade certification is considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and layouts
- Experience with concrete formwork and general structural carpentry
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred / Assets
- Experience in civil, industrial, or infrastructure construction
- Experience working on water or wastewater treatment plants
- Experience with camp construction or temporary facilities
- Familiarity with conventional and non-conventional formwork systems

Work Conditions
- Project sites may be remote or road‑accessible, depending on location
- Work rotations are typically 3 weeks on/ 1 week off
- Outdoor construction work in varying weather conditions
- Extended workdays may be required during peak construction periods
