Reporting to the Supervisor, Roadway Operations - Engineering and Operations Department the incumbent will perform work, which is physically strenuous in nature and involves the use of hand tools and/or manually operated equipment. Assignments will require the operation of Municipal vehicles. The incumbent may work under supervision and receive daily instruction.
Qualifications Required:
· Secondary education (Grade 12 G.E.D. is acceptable).
· Valid NB Class 3 driver’s license required. **You must attach a copy of a valid driver’s license and a current copy of your driver’s abstract in your application.
· A clear Driver’s Abstract is required as condition of employment.
What You’ll Do:
· Performs work related to the construction and maintenance of streets, curbs, sidewalks, and storm sewer utilities.
· Working around heavy equipment, interacting with public, working in traffic.
· Performs related work as required.
· Must be available to work after hours and shifts as required.
· Material handling with loader and tandem truck.
What You’ll Bring:
· Ability to follow instructions accurately as issued by a Foreman or Supervisor.
· Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary in work assignments.
· Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are required.
· Ability to perform well as an individual and as well on a team ranging in size.
· Loader operating experience is considered an asset.
· Tandem Truck operating experience is considered an asset.
