Reporting to Procurement Management, the Transportation Coordinator will coordinate logistics-related responsibilities. The incumbent will specifically focus on and collaborate on inbound duties with FDP's Buying Teams.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Manage and plan for inbound and inter-company/branch logistics
- Coordinate loads from the U.S. and Mexican vendors (domestic), and ensure the accurate entry and management of load data
- Collaborate with Buyers, Sales and Operations staff for freight and transportation arrangements, consolidating and maximizing load efficiency, and factoring various needs such as temperature, timely arrivals, and cost maintenance
- Communicate fulfillment status, troubleshoot potential problems, and provide transport track and trace updates to key personnel throughout the load cycle
- Manage all customs and border compliance to ensure border clearance
- Analyze load data and monitor performance of inbound and outbound routes, freight rates, and come up with potential improvement solutions
- Develop and maintain mutually beneficial carrier/broker relationships
- Provide guidance and support to other Logistics Team members
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Fresh produce or other perishable industry experience
- Cross-border experience (required)
- Customs/cross-border documentation and broker requirements experience (required)
- Post-secondary degree (preferred)
Language & communication skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Other knowledge & skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database programs
- Produce Industry Knowledge with iTrade, Google Sheets, Edict Systems, Blue Book, and Food Link
- Well-developed project management skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
