Casa Classroom Assistant – RECE
Muskoka Montessori School is seeking a warm, dependable Casa Classroom Assistant – RECE to join our Casa classroom community.
Our Casa program serves children ages 3 to 6 in a Montessori environment that supports independence, concentration, respect, social development, and joyful learning. The successful candidate will work closely with the Casa Guide to help maintain a calm, nurturing, and well-prepared classroom environment.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Support the Casa Guide in the daily life of the classroom
Assist children with routines while encouraging independence and self-help skills
Support children during work periods, transitions, outdoor time, lunch, and dismissal
Help maintain a clean, organized, and beautiful prepared environment
Use a calm, respectful approach when supporting children’s behaviour and social development
Assist with classroom materials, cleaning, preparation, and organization
Provide support for children with diverse needs when required
Communicate professionally with staff, children, and families
Contribute to a peaceful, respectful, and collaborative classroom community
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
RECE designation in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
Experience working with young children
An understanding of, or interest in learning about, Montessori education
A calm, patient, and respectful approach with children
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A willingness to support independence rather than doing tasks for the child
Current First Aid/CPR and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check, or willingness to obtain
Experience supporting children with diverse needs is considered an asset
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
