About Us
We are well-established custom signage company with over 50 years of history serving Ontario businesses. We're looking for an experienced General Manager to lead day-to-day operations and help drive the company's next chapter of growth.
The Role
We're hiring a General Manager to take full ownership of running the business day-to-day — production, staff, client relationships, and operation. — reporting directly to owner. This is not an entry-level operations role: we need someone who has already run a shop floor, a crew, and a book of business in the sign industry, and who can be trusted to make the calls we'd make ourselves.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily operations: production scheduling, quality control, installation, and project delivery
- Manage and develop a team of 10 employees across production and installation
- Own client relationships and ensure on-time, on-spec delivery for commercial and institutional signage projects
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships, materials procurement, and inventory
- Monitor and report on operations — labor costs, materials, margins, and productivity
- Enforce safety standards and shop compliance
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, bids, and contracts (e.g., school and commercial construction signage)
- Report directly to owner on performance, issues, and growth opportunities
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in the signage industry (fabrication, installation, and/or production management required)
- Proven experience managing a team and running daily shop/field operations
- Strong understanding of signage production processes — channel letters, illuminated signs, wayfinding, vehicle wraps, etc. (adjust to your actual product mix)
- Financial literacy — comfortable owning a budget, tracking margins, and reporting on operational performance
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Valid driver's license; ability to visit job sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the signage industry
- Knowledge of permits, zoning, and signage bylaws
- PMP or Project Management certification (asset)
- Experience coordinating installers and subcontractors
Benefits
- Competitive salary (based on experience)
- Paid time off
- Growth opportunities within the company
- Performance bonus potential
