Heavy Equipment Operator – Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position involves operating a variety of heavy machinery to support quarry, logistics, and natural stone processing operations at our Huntsville quarry location.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers, guillotines, and other quarry-related machinery. Experience with truck loading is a strong asset. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor environment while maintaining a high level of safety, precision, and equipment care. Common Core certification and industry modules are considered assets but are not required.
Responsibilities
- Operate front-end loaders, excavators, and other heavy machinery to load and move skidded and un-skidded natural stone products
- Safely handle freight, ensuring proper stacking, loading, and storage according to safety standards
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance to keep equipment in optimal condition
- Assist with minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting when needed
- Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and site procedures
- Maintain accurate logs for equipment usage, maintenance, and freight movement
- Work collaboratively with team members to coordinate logistics and maintain efficient operations
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating front-end loaders, excavators, or similar heavy equipment
- Valid commercial driver’s licence (CDL) is an asset but not required
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety regulations
- Basic automotive/mechanical repair skills are an advantage
- Ability to operate industrial equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and situational awareness
- Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment while adhering to safety standards
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual labour as required

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
