Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and development in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in mechanical systems, with a focus on heavy equipment such as farm machinery and heavy trucks and trailers. This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable skills in automotive repair, electrical systems, welding, and schematics while working alongside experienced technicians.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment including farm machinery and heavy trucks and truck trailers
- Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to support repair operations
- Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals for various machinery systems
- Support the assembly and disassembly of mechanical components during repairs or upgrades
- Operate heavy equipment under supervision for testing purposes
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency
- Develop skills in electrical troubleshooting and HVAC systems related to industrial equipment
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status when applicable
Qualifications
- Prior experience or familiarity with dealership service environments is a plus
- Basic knowledge of automotive repair, electrical systems, or industrial maintenance is preferred
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, welding, and schematics is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment under supervision
- Strong mechanical aptitude with an eagerness to learn technical skills related to heavy machinery repair
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills with a focus on customer service when interacting with clients or team members
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in mechanics or related fields is beneficial
