Alcove Addiction Recovery for Women (Alcove) provides a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment for women and their children as they work toward recovery, stability, and long-term wellbeing.
Position Summary
The Case Worker plays a central role in supporting residents throughout their recovery journey by coordinating care, addressing practical and systemic barriers, and connecting residents to internal and external resources. This role requires a trauma informed, collaborative, and resident centered approach, with a strong emphasis on documentation, interprofessional communication, and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote culturally safe, inclusive, and trauma informed care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to program development
- Coordinate and support individualized treatment and recovery plans in collaboration with the treatment team
- Support residents with applications for income supports including Alberta Works, AISH, EI, and related programs
- Support intake, assessment, and orientation of new residents
- Document resident interactions and case updates for communication with the treatment and leadership teams
- Deliver or support psychoeducational programming as required
- Collaborate with clinical and residential teams to ensure continuity and consistency of care
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, and service providers
- Coordinate referrals and advocate for residents with external systems and supports
- Represent Alcove in community meetings, interagency collaborations, and networking opportunities
Education and Experience
- Diploma, degree, or certificate in Social Work, Psychology, Addictions Studies, or a related human services field
- Minimum two years of experience working in addictions and mental health
- Equivalent experience may be considered
Certifications and Requirements
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance required
- Child Intervention Record Check required
- Suicide intervention or crisis response training required
- Class 5 license with a clean drivers abstract
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Strong understanding of case management and recovery-oriented practice
- Knowledge of community resources related to housing, income support, recovery, and mental health
- Ability to manage crisis situations and deescalate conflict
- Ability to work effectively in a team based, multidisciplinary environment
- Flexibility, adaptability, and emotional resilience in a dynamic residential setting
Position Details
- Full time position
- Primarily daytime hours with some flexibility required
- Participation in a rotating on call schedule is required
- Work within a residential treatment environment
- Community meetings and external collaboration may occasionally be required
Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
