Neegan Technical Services (NTS) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Geotechnical Instrumentation Monitoring Technician position. The successful candidate will work in the field under a variety of weather conditions and collaborate closely with team members and client representatives to monitor mining and tailings structures at a client site near Fort McMurray, Alberta.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Diploma and/or Degree in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset

Ability and willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver's abstract

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
-
Comfortable operating ATVs/ARGO vehicles and towing trailers

Strong commitment to safety and demonstrated adherence to Safe Work Practices and Safe Work Procedures

Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a field environment
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-
Working as part of a team to monitor the performance of tailings facilities and mining structures for changes in pressure, displacement, and ground movement
-
Collecting field readings and entering data accurately into monitoring systems
-
Reviewing data to ensure readings remain below established threshold levels and notifying supervisors when trigger criteria are exceeded

Operating ARGO vehicles to access and collect data from instruments located in areas inaccessible by truck

Driving off-road to access monitoring locations
-
Working safely around heavy equipment and active mining operations

Assisting with the installation, maintenance, and inspection of monitoring instruments

Preparing reports and summaries for Team Leads and Coordinators

Following all client and company safety policies and procedures

This is a shift-based position (7 days on, 7 off)
