We are currently hiring a Process Engineer for a Water Operations commissioning team responsible for the facility startup of two water treatment facilities. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic project team working with technology that represents some of the most sophisticated selenium, nitrate, and sulphate removal treatment in the world — advancing the objectives of a major mining company's Water Quality Plan.
We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful engineer with strong learning agility and exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, problem-solving, troubleshooting, decision-making, and organizational abilities — someone who can adapt to a fast-paced environment, work with minimal supervision, and thrive on a team that tackles complex and novel challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Collaborate with the commissioning team to execute the facility commissioning plan on schedule
- Analyze process data and make recommendations to advance the commissioning plan based on results
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and automation teams to troubleshoot process units as required
- Identify issues, recommend a path forward based on findings, and document all changes through the Management of Change (MOC) process
- Coach less-experienced team members including technicians and co-op students
Key Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in chemical, mechanical, environmental, or civil engineering preferred; candidates with significant applicable experience will also be considered
- Engineering fundamentals required: fluid mechanics, mass balances, basic chemistry, solids/slurry handling, and process control
- Minimum 4 years of experience focused on water/wastewater treatment, pilot projects, or similar industries
- Facility commissioning and operations experience is a strong asset
- Experience with ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, high-density sludge, or similar clarifier systems is a strong asset
- Valid driver's licence required
Contract Details
- 6-month contract position
- 8 days on / 6 days off rotation, 10-hour days
