Our client, a well-established civil construction contractor with a strong reputation across British Columbia, is seeking a Civil Superintendent to support the growth of their operations in the East Kootenay region. The company delivers a wide range of civil infrastructure projects including underground utilities, municipal infrastructure, grading, earthworks, road construction, and site servicing works.
- Lead day-to-day field operations, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and production activities to maintain project schedules and productivity targets.
- Monitor project progress, quality, and site performance while proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Support and mentor Foremen and emerging field leaders, fostering a positive and accountable team environment.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers and senior leadership to ensure successful project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with company safety programs, environmental requirements, and operational standards.
- Utilize project reporting systems, scheduling tools, and technology platforms to support effective project execution.
- Assist with planning, resource allocation, and operational improvements to support regional growth.
- Minimum 10 years of civil construction experience with a strong background in field operations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Superintendent or senior field leadership capacity.
- Extensive experience delivering underground utility, municipal infrastructure, grading, roadworks, earthworks, or site servicing projects.
- Proven ability to lead crews, coordinate subcontractors, and manage day-to-day construction activities.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and production planning.
- Experience mentoring and developing field personnel.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with construction technology, reporting systems, and digital communication tools.
- Local East Kootenay experience and relationships with municipalities, suppliers, subcontractors, and regional stakeholders would be considered a strong asset.
