Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Sheep Feedlot/Farm Labourer to join our agricultural team. This role primarily involves supporting and aiding the sheep feedlot and lambing staff in their daily operations. It may also involve some assistance in other feedlot operations by operating loaders, tracters, Skid Steers and other farm related equipment. The ideal candidate will have sheep health related experience. The ideal candidate will also have a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a willingness to learn about farm machinery and sheep/lambing operations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic rural environment with a focus on sustainable farming practices.
Duties
- Assist with feeding, watering, lambing, and caring for livestock in the feedlot and pasture areas
- Perform heavy lifting of feed bags, equipment parts, and other materials as needed
- Clean and maintain barns, pens, and equipment to ensure a safe and hygienic environment
- Support in sheep movement, sorting, and health checks under supervision
- Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, loaders, and feed mixers
- Assist with general farm maintenance tasks including fencing, repairs, and landscaping
- Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with farm regulations
Requirements
- Prior experience or knowledge of sheep husbandry is mandatory
- Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly (up to 50 pounds) and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual labor
- Reliable transportation to access the farm location
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-cultural team in a fast-paced environment
- A willingness and ability to work with a Spanish and English speaking crew. Spanish is not a requirement of the position but will be an asset.
Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
