Job Summary
Watershed Technologies Inc. is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician / Controls Technician to support the commissioning, troubleshooting, programming, integration, and performance verification of building automation and HVAC control systems. The successful candidate will work with low-voltage control devices, BAS software tools, and network communications to ensure building systems operate as designed.
Key Responsibilities
- Test, inspect, commission, and troubleshoot low-voltage control systems and field devices (e.g., sensors, actuators, relays, valves) and related peripherals
- Support commissioning and troubleshooting of BAS hardware and network communications, including TCP/IP and MSTP protocols
- Configure and verify BAS performance and sequences of operation for HVAC equipment and building systems
- Develop and modify BAS graphics and interfaces (e.g., Niagara N4) and validate system operation
- Assist with BAS network and protocol integration, including BACnet and Modbus networks
- Simulate and verify sequences of operation to confirm parameters and overall system performance
- Support installation and operation of BAS-related electrical/electronic equipment and system components
- Complete job documentation, commissioning checklists, deficiency lists, and service reports
- Communicate with project and service teams to resolve issues efficiently and professionally
Requirements
Education
- Diploma or post-secondary education in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology,
- Automation, Controls, or a related field
- 1–3+ years of experience in BAS/controls commissioning, troubleshooting, HVAC controls, or related work (or equivalent)
Technical Skills
- Commissioning and troubleshooting of BAS control devices (sensors, actuators, relays, valves)
- Familiarity with Niagara N4 (or similar BAS platforms) for graphics and system operation
- Understanding of HVAC equipment and common control strategies
- Knowledge of BAS communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP, and MSTP
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently on-site
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
Other
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites (as required)
- Ability to work on-site at client locations across the GTA; occasional after-hours work may be required during commissioning or service support
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience with VFDs, HVAC equipment commissioning, or control panel troubleshooting
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and control schematics
