The Branch Supervisor will aid the Ontario Branch in the execution of Branch strategies, goals, and tactics. The successful candidate will ensure that all Customer Sales & Service functions are completed and supervise the operations requirements to achieve the company’s goals and objectives. The incumbent will also serve as a liaison between the Ontario branch and Head Office.
The position will include the following responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Motivate and develop an Ontario team to achieve and surpass branch objectives, and actively lead the recruiting/discipline processes for Ontario personnel;
- Act as a leader in his/her region for branch initiatives;
- Coach and mentor reports to drive greater internal employee growth using the Catalytic Coaching process;
- Demonstrate effective communication with all personnel, suppliers, customers and Rice staff;
- Build support and engagement for corporate & branch initiatives and objectives within and between branches; and
- Demonstrate Rice values and commitment to Rice Vision & Mission.
Customer Sales & Service:
- Perform all sales activities through 0001-0202-PD-Customer Sales & Service Intake for quotations, sales orders, and customer requests
- Ensure that all customer requests are thoroughly understood to ensure that the right product and/or service is delivered to the customer in the timeframe that they require it;
- Determine product availability and coordinate with manufacturing / purchasing to confirm ship dates to customers;
- Maintain records of quotations and complete follow-ups in a timely manner to maximize sales;
- Provide technical knowledge, support and recommendations to customers;
- Provide exceptional service to customers when responding to their requests for returns, order tracking and other concerns;
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities for Business Development and Account Management personnel;
- Conduct effective sales campaigns with customers to generate new business opportunities & sales;
- Perform other sales duties and/or projects as assigned; and
- Ensure all interactions with customers are accurately recorded within the CRM System
Branch Supervision:
- Ensure that all operating activities focus on providing value to the customer and that non value-added activities are eliminated;
- Logistics, including On-Time Delivery. Inbound/Outbound transportation and Rice delivery vehicles;
- Manage and review activity reports and key performance indicators (measurables) to determine performance and manage outcomes; and
- Ensure compliance with provincial and company regulations and policies
Pricing Administration:
- Provide input and opinions to the General Sales Manager in determining overall target margins and pricing strategies for product and service sales;
- On a continual basis, actively monitor and assess system list pricing to determine opportunities to increase contribution and/or be competitive in the marketplace; and
- Provide direction to Sales and Purchasing Management where required to help execute pricing strategies.
Process Management & Administration:
- Provide leadership, direction and remain accountable for development, maintenance and ongoing refinement of personally owned OMS processes;
- Work to optimize processes and a play a key role in the implementation of continual and large-scale improvements, non-conformance management, corrective actions and preventive actions within the Ontario Branch;
- Ensure all key sales processes and standards are fully integrated and utilized amongst the sales team;
- Provide training and technical leadership in the OMS processes to the Ontario department as directed by the General Sales Manager; and
- Understand and comply with the safety program and help promote a safe work environment

Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Extended hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
- Occasional heavy lifting (up to 50lbs.) may be required.
Education/Experience
- Post-secondary education is preferred.
- Experience in any sales or order-desk role.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred. Previous experience in target markets and product lines, along with industry contacts an asset.
- Previous experience in a professional sales system such as OMS, Sandler, SugarCRM an asset.
- Supervisory experience is an asset
