Job Title: Rental Facilitator (Part Time)
Reports to: Rental Coordinator
Team Member of: Member of the Operations & Facilities Team; Member of the Community & Strategy Team as required; Member of the events and special project teams as required. The Rental Coordinator links and communicates with the various museum teams on behalf of the Rental Facilitator.
Position Summary – Strategic Goals
The Rental Facilitator is primarily responsible for supporting the museum's rental program by supervising external rental groups and ensuring that museum facilities remain safe, secure, clean, and welcoming during rental activities, particularly outside of regular museum operating hours.
The Rental Facilitator also supports the work of the Community & Strategy Team as it relates to visitor experience and customer service. This role contributes to building positive relationships with renters, visitors, community groups, and partners through professional service and support.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Greet and interact with renters, visitors, staff, and volunteers in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Supervise external rental groups using the museum's facilities.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of the facility to monitor rental activities and ensure compliance with museum policies.
- Maintain facilities and event spaces, including light cleaning and general upkeep.
- Help ensure the safety and security of visitors, renters, staff, volunteers, and museum property.
- Ensure rental spaces, washrooms, reception area, gift shop, and common areas remain clean, safe, and presentable.
- Open and close the facility in accordance with museum procedures.
- Assist with room setup, teardown, and general event support as required.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Assist with front-of-house reception and gift shop operations as required.
- Report facility issues, incidents, safety concerns, and maintenance needs to appropriate staff.
- Provide conflict resolution and address concerns from renters, visitors, staff, and volunteers in a professional manner.
- Help create a positive visitor experience that reflects the museum’s mission and values.
- Answer renter and visitor inquiries in person, by phone, and by email as required, and direct them to appropriate museum staff and resources when necessary.
- Provide support for museum programs, special events, and other operational activities as required.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a public-facing environment
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and occasional special events
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED Level C certification considered an asset
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, events, recreation, tourism, or a related field is considered an asset.
Wage: $17.00/hour
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week
Position: Part-time temporary, with the possibility of becoming permanent part-time
