Almage supports seniors who may be at risk of social exclusion and works to build strong, inclusive connections within the community.
Position Overview
Almage Senior Community Centre is seeking a values-driven Assistant Executive Director to assist the Executive Director in leading and developing the organization to its fullest capacity. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director will play an important role in overseeing daily operations, supporting staff, strengthening community partnerships, advancing outreach and communications, and contributing to funding and organizational development initiatives.
A key mandate of this position will be to identify and help establish a suitable location in Rivière-des-Prairies as an additional satellite centre for Almage, while building a meaningful presence and partnerships within the local community.
This position has the potential to evolve into an Interim Executive Director role, depending on organizational needs and the successful candidate’s performance and readiness.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist the Executive Director in ensuring effective planning, coordination, and organizational development in alignment with Almage’s mission and Strategic Plan 2024–2027.
· Support the consolidation, smooth functioning, and continued growth of the organization.
· Oversee daily operations and work collaboratively with staff to ensure the effective delivery of programs and services.
· Support, guide, and supervise staff while promoting teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
· Review and oversee staff timesheets and related administrative processes.
· Promote Almage’s programs and services within the community and develop meaningful community and corporate partnerships.
· Represent Almage with community partners, stakeholders, funders, and relevant external bodies as required.
· Assist with outreach, funding initiatives, communications, and activities that strengthen Almage’s visibility and impact.
· Ensure an effective and responsive complaints management process.
· Support efficient, transparent, and responsible financial management practices.
· Ensure that Almage’s premises are safe, welcoming, and appropriate for members, volunteers, tenants, and employees.
· Manage building-related issues, including identifying and coordinating appropriate contractors when work is required.
· Maintain a balance between strong leadership, initiative, and collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
· Lead or support the search for a suitable satellite location in Rivière-des-Prairies and help establish Almage’s presence in that community.
Qualifications and Skills
· Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and planning skills in a community, non-profit, or social services setting.
· Strong commitment to supporting seniors, particularly those at risk of social isolation or exclusion.
· Experience supervising staff, coordinating programs, and supporting daily operations.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
· Ability to develop partnerships and represent the organization professionally with community members, funders, and stakeholders.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and discretion.
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, as well as experience using social media platforms for outreach, promotion, and communication.
· Knowledge of the east-end Montreal and Rivière-des-Prairies communities is an asset.
· Bilingualism in English and French is required.
Pay: $31.00-$34.00 per hour
