We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Technician to join our bookkeeping team. The successful candidate will be capable of managing multiple client files independently with minimal supervision and will be comfortable working with a variety of accounting software and cloud-based applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients across various industries.
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries and month-end adjustments.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepare and file GST/HST and PST returns.
- Process payroll and prepare payroll remittances, and T4s.
- Maintain general ledgers and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with year-end working papers and provide supporting schedules for accountants.
- Review client bookkeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate professionally with clients to request information and resolve bookkeeping issues.
- Assist with onboarding new bookkeeping clients and improving internal processes.
- Maintain organized electronic client files and documentation.
- Ensure work is completed accurately and within established deadlines.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience.
- Previous experience in a CPA firm or public accounting practice is strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with: QuickBooks Online & Desktop, Sage 50, Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of: General accounting principles, Bank reconciliations, Payroll, GST/HST, Financial statement preparation
- Ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred
- Accounting diploma or degree.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is an asset.
- Experience with CaseWare Working Papers.
- Experience working with small and medium-sized businesses.
