Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Patient Transfer Attendant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely assisting patients with transfers and mobility within the hospital environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical setting. Prior hospital experience is preferred but not required, as training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to patient well-being and support clinical staff in delivering quality healthcare services.
You must possess the following qualifications:
- You have a valid First Responder Certification (please note, we provide training for First Responder if needed)
- You have a Valid BLS Certification (please note, we provide BLS training if needed)
- You possess a valid G class driving license.
- You have the ability to lift 250+ lbs. using a stretcher or stair chair with partner.
- You can effectively communicate in both verbal and written English.
- You are a safe driver with a clean driving record
- You can obtain a clean criminal record search with vulnerable sector screening
- You have up to date immunization records and can provide the following records of: MMR, DPT, Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19 (2 doses), TB Skin Test (Step 1) *must be valid within last 12 month.
- You are comfortable with 12hrs shifts
- You have night and weekend availability if requested.
Duties
- Assist patients with transferring between beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and other medical equipment while ensuring safety and comfort
- Support patients during movement within various hospital departments, including from rooms to diagnostic areas or operating rooms
- Follow proper lifting and transfer techniques in accordance with safety protocols to prevent injury to patients and staff
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain transfer procedures and provide reassurance
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient movements efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of transfer equipment and assistive devices
- Document transfer activities accurately in patient records as required
Experience
- Previous hospital or healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for all new hires
- Experience in patient care or caregiving roles is advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach toward patient interactions
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety guidelines
- Physical stamina and strength to assist with patient transfers safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour
