Established in 1880, J.T. Donald Consultants Limited provides geotechnical and structural engineering, and material inspection and testing services to clients throughout southern Ontario.
We are currently seeking an engineering and material testing technician to join our team in Markham on a part time basis.
Responsibilities:
The technician will be responsible for conducting field inspection and testing services at locations throughout the GTA and southern Ontario. Under the supervision of project engineers, the field technician’s responsibilities are (but not limited to):
- Perform tests on plastic concrete in the field to assess quality and adherence to standards and specifications.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as proctor determinations and grading analyses.
- Supervise backfilling, compaction and asphalt paving operations to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Writing technical reports and conducting site meetings with clients.
- Assist with drafting of engineering plans and drawings.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle available for travel to work sites.
- CCIL Certification for Concrete Testing is an asset
- College diploma is Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or other related disciplines is an asset.
- Prior knowledge of CCIL and ASTM testing procedures for concrete and aggregates is an asset.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Willing to work extended hours when necessary.
- Familiarity and experience with AutoCAD is an asset.
