Job Summary
The production welder will be responsible for welding out the parts that have been assembled by the fitting department. They will receive the assembled part and associated drawing and then must complete all welding as per the fabrication drawing(s). The work hours will be 4, 10 hour shifts from 2:30 pm to 1:00 am, Monday through Thursday.
Responsibilities and Duties
It is the responsibility of the welder to ensure that the steel assemblies match the design requirements of the shop drawings as well as standard steel fabrication code. It is especially important that the welder communicate the lead time on the steel assemblies assigned to them to the shop supervisor so that the flow of the shop is not interrupted. Some duties required by the welder/fitter are:
- Follow welding procedure data sheets
- Interpret weld symbols and welding requirements from assembly drawings
- Maintaining cleanliness of work area
- Willing to work overtime when requested.
Qualifications and Skills
Some skills and/or qualifications required for this position are:
- Basic math skills for layout of assemblies, basic trigonometry
- Basic understanding of metal fabrication drawings. Able to read and understand layout dimensions and weld symbols
- Familiar with layout tools such as tape measure, adjustable squares, chalk lines, etc.
- Comfortable using an oxy-acetylene torch
- Proficient in MCAW and FCAW welding processes
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable working in a team environment

Licence/Certification:
- CWB - MCAW Certification (preferred)
