Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Daycare Assistant to support the care and development of young children in a nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will assist with daily activities, ensure children's safety, and promote a positive learning atmosphere. This role is essential in fostering early childhood growth and providing a caring presence for children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote early childhood development.
- Support children during playtime, meals, naps, and learning activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Provide attentive supervision to ensure a safe environment for all children.
- Help with classroom organization, including setting up materials and cleaning up after activities.
- Foster positive interactions among children, encouraging social skills and cooperation.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to support children's well-being and progress.
- Assist in caring for children with special needs or disabilities by following individualized plans and accommodations.
- Consults, supports and provides guidance to teaching staff in evaluating and revising children’s programming as required
- Ensures licensing and health requirements are met at all times
- Works to ensure the efficient tracking of staff and child hours of the center
- Provides supervision, leadership and support to all centre staff including working directly in ratio
Skills
- Experience working with children in a classroom or caregiving setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Strong teaching skills to engage children in educational activities.
- Compassionate caregiving abilities with patience and understanding.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and families.

Qualifications: Minimum: ECE Level 3 certificate or provincially recognized equivalent. Valid Standard Child Care First Aid and Level “B” CPR. Negative criminal record check including vulnerable sector search. Demonstrated
Pay: $15.63-$25.15 per hour
