Sales Representative – Marine Industry HOWELL’S Marine – Chatham, Ontario
HOWELL’S Marine is a family-owned and operated dealership proudly serving the Chatham-Kent area. As one of the most specialized Mercury Marine dealers in Southwestern Ontario, we continue to grow and recently moved into our brand-new facility just across the road from our previous location.
Our new location features a spacious showroom capable of displaying 25+ boats, along with two 90-foot service bays designed to accommodate multiple boats at once. We are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Sales Representative to join our growing team.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Greeting and assisting customers while understanding their needs and preferences
- Building rapport and establishing trust with customers
- Answering questions regarding boats, motors, features, accessories, and financing options
- Matching customers with suitable boats and marine products
- Presenting boats and product features while highlighting benefits and addressing concerns
- Negotiating pricing and trade-in values
- Assisting customers with financing options and paperwork
- Closing sales while ensuring a positive customer experience
- Maintaining strong product knowledge of boats, motors, and marine accessories
- Staying informed on dealership policies, financing, and industry trends
- Developing and maintaining customer relationships and lead databases
- Following up with prospective customers and nurturing leads
- Assisting with showroom setup, displays, and promotional events
- Preparing vessels for customer delivery
- Coordinating with service and finance departments when required
Assets & Skills
Preferred qualifications and assets include:
- Valid Driver’s License and Pleasure Craft Operator Card (boating license)
- Ability to trailer boats of various sizes
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Willingness to work weekends during peak boating season
- Previous sales experience is considered an asset
- Marine or powersports industry experience is considered a major asset and will be strongly preferred
Qualifications
- Valid G Class Driver’s License or higher
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with fellow employees
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of marine motors and boating products preferred
- Willingness to participate in ongoing product and manufacturer training
