Key Responsibilities
- Assist with supervision and training of Summer Camp Counsellors and Volunteers
- Maintain organization's equipment (cameras, laptops, lanyards, etc) and keep an active inventory of craft supplies and equipment.
- Lead camp counsellors in organizing and leading daily camp activities; delivering daily presentations about basic photography ideas and techniques; lead campers on nature photography walks, assist campers in editing their photos and preparing final slideshows, leading nature activities and crafts.
- Provides a safe, fun, and structured program
- Ensure camp ratios are met at all times
- Perform daily administration tasks including camp sign-in/out, attendance, and complete injury and incident reports as needed
- Assist camp staff with any behaviour challenges or concerns and ensure proper documentation is completed
- Provide regular updates and feedback to the Executive Director.
- Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Because this position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs, the candidate MUST be between the ages of 17 and 30
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Positive attitude and a love for working with children
- Prior experience working with children
- Prior camp counseling experience is preferred
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Interest and knowledge of nature and photography is an asset
- Standard First Aid/CPR-C required
- HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be willing to submit a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check upon hire.
- Must be able to work the following dates: July 6 - August 14
- Reliable mode of transportation (private vehicle) required
Training will be provided
Hours: Monday-Friday, Between 8am-5pm
