BGC South East is seeking energetic and dedicated Youth Recreation Facilitators to help deliver engaging summer programming for children and youth.

- Brockville – St. Lawrence College Campus, 2288 Parkedale Ave
Contract Term
June 30, 2026 – August 22, 2026
Mandatory training sessions will take place throughout May and June with varying schedules.
Schedule
Full-time, approximately 35 hours per week
Candidates must be available Monday through Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Position Overview
The Youth Recreation Facilitator supports the successful delivery of high-quality summer programs for children and youth ages 4–15. Working as part of a dynamic team, the successful candidate will assist with program planning, facilitate activities, and help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where participants can learn, grow, and have fun.
This role requires individuals who demonstrate leadership, positivity, teamwork, and a commitment to fostering healthy development in young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging recreational and educational activities aligned with organizational program standards.
- Lead and participate in games, crafts, sports, and enrichment activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times.
- Maintain required staff-to-child supervision ratios.
- Complete documentation such as incident and accident reports when necessary.
- Keep program areas clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Apply positive behaviour guidance strategies in accordance with organizational policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure program quality and participant satisfaction.
- Attend required training sessions, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Serve as a positive ambassador of BGC South East within the community.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary program such as Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Early Childhood Education, Recreation and Leisure, Concurrent Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with children or youth in camps, recreational programs, schools, or similar settings.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
- Up-to-date Tdap (within the last 10 years) and MMR immunizations.
- Successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation considered an asset.
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development certification considered an asset.
