Role Summary
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Brake and Shear Operator is responsible for setting up and operating brake and shear equipment to cut and form sheet metal components to specification. This role supports production targets by ensuring accurate part dimensions, maintaining quality standards, and protecting equipment through proper operation and routine care.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate brake and shear equipment to cut, bend, and form sheet metal according to drawings and work orders;
- Review work instructions, blueprints, and measurements to ensure accurate part production;
- Use machine software and controls to select programs, adjust settings, and maintain dimensional accuracy;
- Perform in-process quality checks using measuring tools to verify shapes, dimensions, and tolerances;
- Maintain production throughput by working efficiently and identifying issues that may affect schedule or quality;
- Complete routine machine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance, and report equipment concerns to supervision;
- Handle materials safely and protect finished components from damage during processing and movement;
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety, quality, and company procedures; and
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred;
- 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or sheet metal fabrication environment preferred;
- Experience with brake and shear setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting considered an asset;
- Experience operating Cidan equipment, coil slitting and cutting machines, Thalmann folders, or similar CNC-controlled fabrication equipment considered a strong asset; and
- Forklift or material handling experience considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and measurement specifications;
- Experience operating Cidan equipment, including coil slitting and cutting machines such as the Nuslit and folders such as the Thalmann, is strongly preferred;
- Experience running CNC-controlled equipment requiring technical setup, program selection, and adjustment for accurate part production;
- Knowledge of measuring tools and quality inspection methods;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, defect-free parts;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment;
- Commitment to safe work practices, attendance, and maintaining an organized workstation; and
- Basic math and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing setting with regular standing, lifting, and material handling;
- Use of personal protective equipment required;
- Work Location: In person; and
- Occasional overtime may be required to support production schedules.

Pay: $37.00-$41.00 per hour
