L n D Precision Industrial Repair is a leading Western Canadian industrial equipment repair, maintenance and optimization services organization. We are seeking a versatile, high-caliber Journeyman/woman Millwright for a dual-scope role combining precision shop overhauls with field service mobilization. Based out of our Fort McMurray facility, you will split your time between rebuilding heavy mining components in a controlled shop environment and providing on site field installations and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and rebuild heavy industrial gearboxes, high-torque pump assemblies, and conveyor drives to exact manufacturer tolerances.
- Mobilize local mining and oil sands sites to execute complex equipment installations, laser alignments, and field commissioning.
- Service, troubleshoot, and rebuild critical mechanical components for heavy mining fleets, shovels, crushers, and material handling systems.
- Perform meticulous root-cause failure analysis using micrometers, dial indicators, and specialized diagnostic tooling, documenting all findings.
- Safely engineer and execute heavy lifts using shop overhead cranes, field mobile cranes, and advanced rigging techniques.
- Work seamlessly alongside welders, machinists, and field technicians, actively sharing knowledge, helping apprentices, and contributing to a positive team environment.
- Diagnose potential mechanical failures early during teardowns to save clients unexpected downtime and ensure long-term machine reliability.
- Take personal accountability for safety by strictly adhering to shop protocols and site-specific oil sands standards, including field level hazard assessments (FLHAs) and lock-out/tag-out.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Millwright Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working on heavy gearboxes and mining equipment
- Working in a Shop and Field experience is an asset.
- Ability to work as part of a team with a dedication to high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Valid safety certifications (e.g., CSO/BSO, Fall Protection, Confined Space) is an asset
- Clean Class 5 driver's license with a commercial abstract is required for field vehicle operation.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment site access test is mandatory (drug, alcohol, and physical fitness)
