The challenges that await you
Reporting to the Deputy General Manager – Development and Vitality of the Territory, you will ensure the strategic leadership of a key service responsible for the entire range of services in culture, recreation, sports, and social development. You will orchestrate a service offering that directly impacts the quality of life of Laval residents, including libraries, sports and recreational facilities, cultural activities, as well as social and community development initiatives.
You play a central role in:
- community development
- accessibility and quality of local services
- cultural and sports outreach
- strengthening the social fabric of Laval
In this context, your main mandates, in line with the city’s strategic planning, consist of:
- Defining and deploying an integrated vision of services to the population, aligned with the City’s priorities;
- Reviewing and harmonizing the scope of planning based on organizational capacity;
- Positioning the service as a key player in collective well-being and living together;
- Leading the modernization and optimization of the service offering (citizen experience, accessibility, innovation);
- Developing structural partnerships with organizations, institutions, and local stakeholders;
- Actively contributing to major cross-cutting municipal files (urban planning, inclusion, safety, neighborhood vitality);
- Ensuring rigorous and effective management of resources (human, financial, infrastructure);
- Mobilizing significant multidisciplinary teams in a transformation context;
- Implementing management practices based on data and performance
The ideal profile for us
- Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, notably in business administration, recreation (leisure), social work, sociology, management, or cultural studies, or another discipline related to the function;
- Having a graduate degree (MBA, master's, or DESS) is a significant asset;
- Possess a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, including significant experience in managing large teams in a unionized environment.
