We are seeking a skilled and motivated Plastic Processing Equipment Mechanic (Industrial Mechanic) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plastic processing and extrusion equipment to ensure safe and efficient production operations.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience in industrial mechanics, plastic processing equipment maintenance, extrusion operations, or a similar manufacturing environment.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, production orders, and extrusion schedules.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and industrial safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Read production orders, blueprints, and extrusion schedules to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures.
- Select, position, align, and install dies and tooling in extrusion and processing equipment.
- Set up, operate, monitor, and tend extrusion machinery and related processing equipment.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities, malfunctions, and potential failures.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Complete daily preventive maintenance activities and maintain maintenance records.
- Monitor machine performance and make technical adjustments to optimize production efficiency and product quality.
- Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure operational excellence.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing and production environment.
- On-site work required.
- May involve standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and working around industrial machinery.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation
- $36.10 per hour
- 37.5 hours per week
- Overtime paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly wage
