About Skating Hour
Skating Hour is a Learn To Skate program for kids and adults across Ontario. Our sessions are fun, supportive, and designed to help beginners build confidence on the ice and on wheels. We believe learning to skate should feel like play, not pressure.
About the Role
We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic skating coach to lead our Learn To Skate sessions in Oakville at Glen Abbey. We have two schedules available:
Wednesday — 6:00 PM
Friday — 6:00 PM
Each session is 50 minutes. You can coach on one or both days based on your availability. No prior coaching experience is required — we provide training before every session to prepare you.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead Learn To Skate sessions for kids and adults of varying skill levels
- Create a fun, encouraging, and safe environment for all participants
- Teach skating fundamentals including balance, stopping, gliding, and basic techniques
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed throughout the session
- Complete a feedback report after each session to track student progress
- Assist students who need extra support or confidence building on the ice/rink
Requirements
- Must be 17 years of age or older
- Solid foundation in skating basics (ice or roller)
- Some on-floor or on-ice experience
- Energetic, patient, and comfortable working with beginners of all ages
- Reliable, punctual, and a positive presence
- Willingness to complete a background check
