Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team part-time 2 days a week (Friday's being one). The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and the management of chronic conditions. This role requires a strong foundation in primary care practices, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality healthcare services.

Duties
- Meet to Government of Alberta Guidelines of reaching at least 900 patient panel, providing after-hours access on weekends, evenings or holidays. ( Part-time week hours available) and complete the Expression of Interest Form: https://www.alberta.ca/nurse-practitioner-primary-care-program
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status and needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on clinical findings and patient preferences.
- Provide acute and chronic disease management, including medication administration and monitoring.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, including ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Manage patient care in various settings including outpatient clinics, urgent care facilities, nursing homes, and assisted living environments.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care across different services including geriatrics, pediatrics, internal medicine, and behavioral health.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and utilize EMR/EHR systems effectively (Healthquest).
- Educate patients on health maintenance, disease prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a valid state license.
- Experience in primary care settings with a strong emphasis on patient-centered care.
- Proficiency in essential clinical skills including suturing.
- Familiarity with coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10/CPT) for accurate medical documentation.
- Previous experience in critical care environments (ICU/PICU) or emergency medicine is preferred.
- Knowledge of geriatrics, pediatrics, infectious disease care, pain management, and behavioral health is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia.
