Job Overview
The On-Site Summer Student is a full-time summer opportunity designed for high school and post-secondary students returning to school in the fall. This field-based role places students directly on active construction sites, working alongside our site teams to assist in day-to-day operations. This is a practical, boots-on-the-ground experience designed to expose students to the inner workings of construction while helping streamline job site functions and support overall productivity.
Responsibilities
- Assist site supervisors and crews with physically demanding hands-on construction activities
- Support material handling, loading/unloading, and staging for upcoming tasks
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the job site
- Track and replenish site tools, equipment, and supplies as directed
- Participate in and support daily safety talks and enforce safety best practices
- Help coordinate deliveries and logistics directly on-site
- Support with basic measurements, layout preparation, and site documentation
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned, whether specifically or generally related to the role
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in high school, college or university, and returning to school in the fall
- Interest in construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure project work is considered an asset
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a site team
- Able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Familiarity with construction safety practices is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation may be required
