As a Licensing Support Officer, you directly impact the health and safety of Canadians, and you never lose sight of this responsibility. You have great interpersonal skills, and can communicate effectively with your team, the licensees, and stakeholders both inside and outside the organization. What you’ll do:
You will receive broad training in administrative regulatory and technical areas and will provide the following technical services in support of CNSC regulatory operations:
- Review technical and regulatory information (i.e. licensee submissions) and begin to assess data, and draft reports as required with direction.
- Conduct preliminary research as assigned and tabulates results for further review and analysis.
- Initiate contact with licensees when regulatory submissions (e.g. renewal applications, Annual Compliance Reports) are overdue.
- Review and assess annual compliance reports.
- Provide support to divisional projects and initiatives as needed.
- Attend meetings and outreach/engagement activities as a learning opportunity.
- Observe and participate in inspections (on occasion).
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
A university degree in science or engineering, a college diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and relevant job knowledge.
Language Requirements:
Bilingual imperative with a proficiency at CBC level. If you are unsure of your proficiency level, we encourage you to take a self-assessment here.
Experience:
- Contributing to a program and/or a project in the nuclear field that is technical in nature.
- Proficiency using Microsoft 365 applications, including Office Suite and SharePoint.
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act, Regulations and supporting guidance documentation.
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Substances and Radiation Devices Regulations, and the Radiation Protection Regulations.
- Knowledge of the nuclear domain including the use of nuclear substances.
- Understanding the fundamental radiation protection principles, and associated safety requirements.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively in English and in French, both verbally and in writing with the ability to adapt to all audiences.
