Little Leaf Interiors is a Calgary-based, residential interior renovation company, specializing in Basement Development & Suite legalization, bathroom renovations, kitchen remodels, flooring and touch-up/refresh projects.
We are seeking a Renovation Assistant to join our growing team to assist with renovation work and job-site tasks. The ideal candidate will be accountable, punctual, possess good communication skills, and be comfortable working with hand and power tools, sometimes unsupervised. As a Renovation Assistant you will be expected to have some basic experience with tools and be willing to learn new tools. You will have a basic understanding of building and construction processes and be comfortable performing a wide variety of tasks.
This is a hands-on role for an individual who is looking to grow their skills. Owning your own tools is a strong asset, and will become a requirement over time for those who do not have tools. A reliable vehicle - truck or van - capable of hauling supplies when needed (drywall, lumber, etc.) is considered a strong asset, but not mandatory. However, appropriate means of transportation is required to get to and from job sites (sometimes multiple sites in one day across the city).
Responsibilities
- This role requires a performing tasks which may include, but is not limited to: framing, drywall, flooring, base & trim, painting, cabinet/shower/bath installs, pick-up & delivery of materials, or disposal runs.
- Comfortable and willing to learn new skills with hand tools, power tools and machinery,
- May be required to work alone from time to time.
- Effective time management
- Must be comfortable talking to clients on occasion as well as other sub-trades
- Maintain positive relationships with clients and trades
- Adhere to workplace code of conduct, be respectful and professional
- Coordinate with project manager, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate smooth communication and workflow
- Heavy lifting may be required from time to time
- A valid driver's license is required
Experience
- Past experience in residential construction and/or renovation preferred
- Experience in framing, drywall, flooring, finishing, cabinetry, painting, etc., all considered assets
- Familiarity with construction safety standards and protocols an asset
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow directions effectively when given multiple tasks is considered a strong asset.
