After successful completion of probation: $29.38/hour
Job Summary
The General Maintenance Engineer is responsible for installing, monitoring, maintaining, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment throughout the hotel. This role also supports general building maintenance, including plumbing, HVAC systems, painting, carpentry, and preventative maintenance, to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair electrical equipment, appliances, and systems (e.g., lighting, motors, HVAC components, kitchen equipment).
- Perform general maintenance in guest rooms and public areas, including minor carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and flooring.
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning ventilation systems and servicing equipment.
- Assist other trades and departments with installations and repairs as needed.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Follow all health, safety, and fire regulations and company policies.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
- Safely handle assigned keys, tools, and equipment.
- Complete assigned work orders using company systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of general maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality or a similar environment.
- Post-secondary education in a technical field or relevant certification is an asset.
- 4th Class Operating Engineer License (or higher) is considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, guests, and management.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance systems.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
Working Conditions
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, and climbing.
- May require working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
