JOB SUMMARY:
The Health Records Clerk performs the clerical procedures in the Health Records Department, such as prepping, scanning, quality control and validation in an electronic record environment. Duties include, answering/troubleshooting telephone calls internally and externally, collecting paperwork from all areas to be processed, answering the front window and releasing records to requestors, burning discs/USB’s for all Diagnostic Imaging related requests, releasing information electronically from faxes and mail, electronic monitoring of all outgoing faxes, completing requests on an urgent basis, processing ambulance call records.. The Health Records Clerk complies with the Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience dealing with patients and health professionals an asset
Previous Health Records experience - preferred
Excellent interpersonal communication skills – required;
Bilingualism – preferred;
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position.
EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE:
Grade 12 education – required
Medical Terminology – required (will be tested)
