What You'll Do
As a technical writer on our Training and Documentation team, you will create clear, effective instructional and process documentation that supports manufacturing, assembly, installation, and internal operations across Falkbuilt and our Branch network. Our continual innovation creates ongoing opportunities to improve operational excellence through process clarity and scalable knowledge sharing. This position is based in our Calgary, AB headquarters.
Key Accountabilities

Create and maintain visually clear documentation for internal teams and external partners

Maintain accurate and current documentation through revision tracking and version control

Collaborate with SMEs across engineering, operations, and design teams

Support training initiatives through written, visual, and multimedia learning materials

Documentation updates and release communications for new or revised solutions

Common documentation types include:

Process and reference manuals for internal office staff and external distribution staff roles like interior design, project management, and sales

Step-by-step assembly and installation guides used by field technicians to construct Falkbuilt solutions

Techsheets for each solution including critical dimensions, materials, images, and design options
What You Bring

Exceptional written communication and editing skills

Experience creating procedural or technical documentation

Strong organizational and information management skills

Ability to learn complex processes quickly

Self-directed with strong follow-through

Ability to identify gaps and proactively improve documentation quality

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and documentation tools
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

3-5 years of related experience (training or technical writing experience preferred)
Assets
-
Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments
-
Experience creating instructional graphics or diagrams
-
Adobe InDesign experience is ideal - that is the main platform we use for documentation. Graphic design experience is not required, but a creative eye is an asset. You'll have access to the full Adobe Creative Suite.

Experience with SharePoint is a bonus - posting, organizing, and maintaining the most current versions of documents on our SharePoint site is critical to the role.

Familiarity with LMS software and course authoring tools is considered an asset - we use iSpring Suite and LMS.
