Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Indigenous Initiatives and Applied Research the Indigenous Research and Development Coordinator provides coordination and administrative support for applied research and development projects involving Indigenous Peoples, communities, and organizations. Working under the direction and guidance of the Executive Director, this role leads the development and implementation of the Indigenous Research Circle by establishing best practices for Indigenous-led and community-informed research, collaborating with the Research Ethics Board to strengthen culturally grounded ethical review processes, supporting researchers in understanding Indigenous research protocols and community expectations, and strengthening partnerships with Indigenous communities and the Applied Research and Innovation Office (ARIO).
The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with the Manager, Research Administration, Senior Manager, Centre for Natural Products, Senior Manager, Centre for Healthy Communities, researchers, students, and community or industry partners to identify opportunities where a Two-Eyed Seeing approach would strengthen research practice, support researchers in building respectful and ethical relationships with Indigenous communities, and promote culturally grounded, community informed approaches across projects.
