We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate transportation operations efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine, ensuring optimal routing and delivery timelines.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, carriers, warehouse teams, and customers via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette at all times.
- Utilize GPS and GIS technologies to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and respond swiftly to any transportation disruptions or delays.
- Enter data accurately into systems like AS400 and Transportation Management software to track shipments, update statuses, and generate reports.
- Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring compliance with company policies and customer requirements while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Oversee fleet management activities by coordinating vehicle assignments, maintenance schedules, and compliance with safety standards.
- Analyze logistical data to identify opportunities for process improvements in dispatching, freight handling, or supply chain efficiency.
Experience
- Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment is preferred.
- Strong familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like SyteLine.
- Knowledge of GPS tracking technology, GIS mapping tools, and fleet management software is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while providing exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating logistics data and making informed decisions that improve operational efficiency.
- Experience working with freight carriers, 3PL providers (third-party logistics), or shipping & receiving operations is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry-specific tools such as AS400 or Transportation Management modules enhances effectiveness in this role.
