Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Technical Costing Clerk to join our team. This role is vital in supporting the accurate and efficient processing of cost data related to mechanical and technical services. The ideal candidate will possess strong clerical skills, familiarity with mechanical terminology, and excellent organizational abilities to ensure smooth operations within our department. Duties
- Prepare, review, and process cost documentation related to mechanical and technical services
- Analyze specifications, BOM's and technical requirements
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for workorders, projects and customer quotations
- Calculate material, labour, and overhead costs
- Work closely with foremen, service, procurement and project management teams to gather costing inputs
- Compare estimated costs with actual costs and investigate variances
- Maintain accurate records through filing and data entry, ensuring all information is up-to-date and easily accessible
- Assist in verifying billing information against service records and technical reports
- Organize and file documents systematically to support audit readiness and departmental efficiency
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper pricing, documentation, and compliance with organizational standards
- Support the team with administrative tasks such as data management, report generation, and correspondence as needed
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with privacy policies
- Experience
- Prior technical experience preferred (former tradesperson), especially within the mechanical services or construction environments
- Familiarity with mechanical/plumbing/HVAC terminology is highly desirable to accurately interpret and process documentation
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Experience with filing systems and maintaining organized records
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Pay: Up to $30.58 per hour
