Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Machine Operator to join our prep metal shop team. The successful candidate will operate and maintain various metal fabrication machines including bandsaws, press brakes, milling machines, drills, and other shop equipment to prepare metal components according to production specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate shop equipment such as:
- Bandsaws
- Press brakes
- Milling machines
- Drill presses
- Grinders and deburring tools
- Ironworker (if applicable)
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and measurements
- Measure, cut, bend, drill, and prepare metal materials to specification
- Set up machines and adjust tooling as required
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality
- Perform basic machine maintenance and daily equipment checks
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Safely handle raw materials and finished products
- Use measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, squares, and micrometers
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE
- Assist with material movement and shop support duties as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience operating fabrication equipment and machinery
- Ability to read shop drawings and use measuring tools accurately
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
- Forklift or overhead crane experience is an asset
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of metal fabrication processes
- Experience with setup
- Basic welding or fabrication knowledge
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Working Conditions
- Industrial manufacturing/shop environment
- Exposure to noise, dust, sparks, and moving equipment
- Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
- Overtime and shift work may be required
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
