Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled SMT Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting surface-mount technology (SMT) equipment to ensure optimal production performance. This role requires a strong background in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, and mechanical repair, with an emphasis on precision and safety. The technician will work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability, contributing to the overall efficiency of our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
The SMT Maintenance Technician will primarily be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing SMT machines used in electronics manufacturing. These duties include:
- Scheduling and performing preventative maintenance tasks including greasing, cleaning, adjusting, calibrating, teardown, etc.
- Diagnosing equipment issues and troubleshooting SMT processes/equipment issues
- Replacing faulty components or performing upgrades
- Assist with maintaining production quality and efficiency by keeping equipment and processes operating smoothly.
- Assist with day-to-day operation of SMT equipment and processes
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist college diploma or university degree and 2-4 years related experience
- Experience working with and/or maintaining SMT equipment, including stencil printers, pick and place, reflow ovens, SPI/AOI, Xray, aqueous cleaning, selective soldering.
- In depth understanding of SMT assembly processes
- Comfort using hand tools and performing mechanical work with equipment.
- Experience with electronics inspection to IPC-A-610 standards
- Training and Experience in ESD Procedures
- Good manual dexterity demonstrating fine motor skills for working with small components (hand-eye coordination)
- Strong English language comprehension is a must
- Work from written/verbal instructions, technical manuals, engineering specifications and schematics
- Possess good interpersonal communication skills
- Strong understanding of electronics assembly
- Ability to work independently and schedule time efficiently.
