Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled music therapist to join our team as an on-call music therapist providing coverage within a long-term care home in Mississauga, Ontario. In this role, you will facilitate therapeutic music programming for residents on an as-needed basis, supporting emotional well-being, engagement, social connection, and quality of life.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan and implement music therapy sessions tailored to the unique needs and abilities of the adults.
2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions and participants' progress.
3. Stay current with best practices and research in the field of music therapy.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program. (REQUIRED)
2. Membership with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (MTA or MT-BC certified) (REQUIRED)
3. Registered Psychotherapist, RP or RP(Q) affiliated with the CRPO (PREFERRED)
4. Experience working with adults with special needs.
5. Proficiency in playing various musical instruments and facilitating group music therapy experiences.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Compassion, patience, and empathy for individuals with physical and cognitive challenges.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
