Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team and ensure the well-being and cleanliness of our facility as well as socialize and exercise the dogs in a structured, safe way. This role involves providing exceptional care for animals, maintaining a clean environment, and supporting the overall operations of the kennel. The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, and capable of handling physically demanding tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable space for our pets.
Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and monitor animals to ensure their health and safety
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas regularly to maintain hygiene standards
- Assist with basic medical care of animals as directed
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing pet owners’ questions and concerns professionally
- Handle heavy lifting when moving supplies or assisting with animal transport within the facility
- Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to management
- Maintain organized records of animal care activities and cleaning schedules
- Support team members in daily operations to ensure a smooth workflow
- Supervise structured social groups and maintain safe play time for all of the dogs
- Walk dogs around our farm
- Minor training support under the supervision of our trainers
Requirements
- Prior experience in animal care or customer service is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds) on a regular basis
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and pet owners alike
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
