Summary
Reporting to the FLSS & TVS Lead, the Systems Coordinator (Fire Life Safety) will be dedicating coordination efforts for all aspects of the Fire Life Safety System and their interfaces. The role manages design deliverables, RFIs, FCRs, SCRs, while maintaining seamless communication between design vendors, suppliers, installers and other disciplines. The successful candidate will verify that the design and procured equipment is in compliance with codes, standards, and the Project Agreement, while supporting safe, on-time, on-budget installation. The position ensures proper integration and interfacing with stations, guideway, tunnel, existing infrastructure and other subsystems.
Responsibilities
Manufacturer/ Supplier
Oversee vendors to ensure:
- Design & manufacturing processes are followed while adhering to the schedule.
- Review technical design documentation & shop drawings to ensure that all applicable codes are met, including NFPA 72/130, CAN/ULC S537/S1001, Canadian Electrical Code, Vancouver Building Bylaw, TransLink Building Bylaw, IEC 61508 and the Project Agreement.
- Coordinate the integration of all elements, including Firefighter Control Panels (FCPs), Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP), Detection/Notification Devices, Fire Suppression, MEP equipment and the Operations Control Centre.
- Coordinate the Interfacing with Public Address, Emergency Telephone, Vertical Transportation, Faregates, Fire Doors, adjacent buildings and existing Canada Line infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Systems Integration, V&V, RAMS and T&C teams to ensure Testing and Commissioning deliverables are developed, approved and completed while aligning with overall Systems requirements.
Project Management
- Collaborate design reviews and stakeholder activities.
- Ensure timely delivery of interface requirements to support handovers.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues to complete vendor and subcontractor work successfully.
- Manage and track RFIs (Requests for Information), FCRs (Field Change Requests), and SCRs (Site Change Requests) for the FLSS
- Monitor and review vendor/subcontractor progress and align schedules with overall project timeline and milestones.
- Coordinate equipment delivery and site access with other trades.
- Coordinate construction interface conflicts between subcontractors.
Site Supervision
- Ensure Safe Work Practices are in place and followed.
- Collaborate with the Quality team for all aspects of testing, inspection and installation on site.
- Monitor quality, safety, and environmental performance.
- Coordinate requests for information and issue field instructions.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes between trades.
- Evaluate, quantify, and value changes in the work.
- Review the monthly progress provided by Vendor & Subcontractors.
- Monitor Subcontractor’s Post Installation Check-Out, testing and documentation to ensure all required checks are completed successfully.
- Compile As-built construction records for completed installation work and commissioning support, using web-based document management system and report on the status of the installation and commissioning support. Experience with tools such as Bluebeam, Procore & Aconex is a plus
- Ensure the contracted works are completed timely to support Handover to the Test and Commissioning Team complete with inspection reports, deficiency lists and related handover documentation.
- Attend on-site and in-office meetings
- Other duties as requires.
Experience/Qualifications
- Educational and experience requirements include Electrical, Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience, along with experience working at site.
- 3+ years’ experience working in industrial projects.
- Understanding of full lifecycle systems engineering practices, particularly RAMS principles per EN 50126/IEC 61508 standards is desirable.
- Proficiency reviewing technical aspects of design and equipment.
- Proficiency in issuing clear written instructions to subcontractors.
- Excellent computer skills, working with spreadsheets, PDF drawings and web-based solutions.
- Knowledge of NFPA, Canadian Electrical Code, relevant safety regulations and requirements.
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to propose different solutions to solve problems including inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Ability to coordinate works at site with the capability to prioritize the activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
