Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating transportation activities, managing freight shipments, and ensuring efficient communication across various departments. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where strong communication, data entry, and analysis skills are essential for success. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in maintaining smooth operations within our supply chain and third-party logistics (3PL) partnerships.
Duties
- Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and SyteLine software.
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, ensuring timely delivery and pickup of goods.
- Utilize AS400 and other data entry systems to track shipment statuses and update relevant records accurately.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Analyze shipping data to identify potential delays or issues, providing solutions to optimize freight movement.
- Oversee supply chain activities related to freight management, including documentation and compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with 3PL providers to coordinate logistics operations efficiently.
- Maintain organized records of all dispatch activities, including shipping schedules, freight details, and delivery confirmations.
- Assist in troubleshooting transportation issues promptly to minimize disruptions in the supply chain.
Experience
- Proven experience working with transportation management systems (TMS) and SyteLine or similar ERP software.
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, freight management, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Familiarity with 3PL operations and freight analysis skills for optimizing routes and costs.
- Proficiency in data entry, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems with professional communication skills.
- Ability to analyze shipping data effectively and communicate findings clearly to team members.
- Prior experience in a dispatcher or logistics coordination role is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. This position requires excellent organizational abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
