Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Field Mechanic to join our team. This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a variety of truck mounted bodies and heavy machinery in the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems, with experience working on heavy equipment on any of the following- street sweepers, refuse packers, Hydro-X or Sewer Combo trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work across diverse job sites, providing essential support to keep equipment operational and ensure safety standards are met.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on truck mounted bodies and heavy machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Perform repairs utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools.
- Operate heavy equipment for testing or troubleshooting purposes when necessary.
- Assist with assembly, disassembly, and installation of machinery components.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed.
- Follow safety protocols to ensure safe working environments during field operations.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding repair status and recommendations for maintenance.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
- Familiarity with any of the above mentioned types of equipment would be an asset.
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Experience with welding, assembly, electrical troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and perform heavy lifting safely.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients on-site.
This position requires candidates to be adaptable to various work environments with some of that being outdoors in different weather conditions while maintaining a focus on safety and quality workmanship. Prior experience working with heavy machinery and industrial equipment is essential for success in this role.
Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
