Job Description
As a steel detailer you will be working together with a Professional Engineer and other detailers to help create and develop structural steel models based on the contract documents; create erection drawings and edit fabrication (shop) drawings as required. Help coordinate projects and / or check drawings prepared by others detailers. Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Draft and detail complex steel structure 2D elements and 3D models according to customer requirements and standard practices based on contract documents.
- Create Erection drawings to be used by the Erector to assemble the steel
- Assist in shop drawing editing, verification as needed by project schedule.
- Interpret and incorporate Approval Comments, Contract Changes and other revisions into the scope of the project.
- Assists in preparation and submittal of all necessary lists, documents or files (shop & field bolts, mill order, galvanized pieces, CNC files, etc.) to the appropriate department in support of the project.
- Collect information from all available sources in order to prepare accurate and complete drawings and incorporate architect’s changes.
- Verify dimension correctness and/or identify any interference between elements.
- Recognize changes that will require additional cost and alert the project manager.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Diploma from a technical university or related experience and training.
- Miscellaneous metals experience in drafting, fabrication or installation will be considered in lieu of miscellaneous metals detailing experience
- Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations, architectural blueprints, structural drawings and specifications.
- Ability to use computer-assisted drafting software including but not limited to: Tekla Structures, AutoCAD
- Structural steel experience in drafting, fabrication, or installation an asset will be
- Structural detailing experience strongly recommended and preferred
- Strong organizational skill and attention to detail
- Exceptional communication and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to prioritize ensuring all timeframes and deadlines are met
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Minimum of 1 year experience detailing steels structures and connections.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well alone and in a team environment.
Full time position.
Salary will be based on experience and performance.
Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour
